RE:RnD… Status of the real estate market with Jonathan Miller and Matt Heaton

Just finished up a ridiculously informative (and fun!) show with Jonathan Miller and Matt Heaton as part of the latest RE:RnD radio show. In the beginning, we took a real deep dive into macro-economic issues that are facing the industry and then focused in on how agents can use this knowledge in their business. You can listen to the show via the widget embedded in this post!

It’s been a lot of fun to team up with the notorious rob on this project… I’m not sure what you’all think, but I’m having a blast bantering with him and enjoying teaming up with him to dive into real estate issues. We already know the topic for next week, but I’m going to hold off announcing anything until we get a chance to get some speakers lined up. What I can say however, is that it’s going to be fun! ūüėČ

RE: RnD, Let the games begin!

Wow! What fun!

After announcing the new radio show that Rob and I are launching Thursday morning at 9am PST/noon EST, there’s been a whirlwind of activity… including some great coverage on sites like GeekEstate and Sellsius

We have some great guests lined up and some real estate companies have stepped up to the plate to provide some very cool prizes! ¬† Here are the things we’ll be giving away on the show:

I’m expecting we’re going to have an active audience on the call and look forward to getting a bunch of folks involved… However, in addition to the banter of Rob and myself, we’re expecting some great conversations with:

  • @nik_nik on using twitter for your Business
  • Joseph Ferrara on the social media code of ethics that NAR recently released!

So, you want to know how to win the great prizes??? That’s one of the first things we’re going to discuss on the show, so you’ll want to be there promptly!

And if you want to call in so you can banter with us on the show and in the chatroom, follow the instructions on our Talkshoe page

Otherwise, if you just want to listen in, then you should be able to stream the show directly from this widget starting tomorrow morning at 9am PST!

And finally, to make sure you get updates about future shows, make sure you become a fan of our Facebook page: http://rernd.com/

Introducing RE: RnD!

notorious-robI must admit that when I first heard that ¬†the Notorious Rob was had left Onboard and joined the ranks of a consultant, I got a bit excited. Rob is one of the smartest thinkers in real estate marketing, and if he’s decided to do consult, then I wanted to find a way for us to team up.

And great news on that front. We’ve decided to launch a weekly radio show starting this Thursday morning!

Are you curious what the show is going to be like? So are we!

Here’s what we know:

  • We’re calling it RE: RnD
  • We’ll run it every Thursday morning for one hour starting at 9am PST/12pm EST
  • We’re going to use TalkShoe, so you can get all the information you’ll need to call in and join the chat room here: http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/51093
  • We’ve set up a Facebook Page at: http://rernd.com. Become a “fan” to get regular updates on the show
  • We’re still finalizing the guest list for the first show, but we know the topics we’re going to cover:
    • Current news and events (i.e. real estate banter)
    • Ways to promote your biz with FB Pages
    • NAR’s new code of ethics around social media
    • Fun and games (follow @rernd for details on the “games” part)

Some of the things we haven’t figured out yet are:

  • Which guests should we bring?
  • Which topics should we cover in the future?
  • Is there anyone interested in sponsoring the show?

Any way and either way, it’s gonna be fun!

Do you have an idea for how you’d like to get involved on the show? ¬†Reach out any time!

And most importantly, become a fan of our Facebook Page so that you can get updates and details on our upcoming shows!

4realz Roundtable is Back: Using Facebook Pages to Generate Business!

[Update: What a great roundtable discussion. Thanks so much to Reggie Nicolay, Ricardo Bueno, Loren Nason, Mike Mueller, Stacie Wells and Brad Nix for joining the roundtable! If you missed the call, you can now listen to a recording via the TalkShoe widget to the right.]

Inspired by a conversation with Ricardo Bueno, I’ve decided to bring back the 4realz Roundtable radio show for a ONE more show!

This Thursday at 2pm PST, we’re going to have a conversation with real estate professionals on how to use Facebook Biz Pages to market yourself and I want you to take part!

Taking part is easy, but there are so many ways to take part it can seem a bit confusing. To simplify things, I’ve tried to break down the most common options here:

  • To simply¬†listen to the conversation from your computer, return to this blog post at 2pm PST (5pm EST!) and click on the play button of the widget in the top-right of this post! This will stream the conversation to you through your computer!
  • To simply¬†listen to the conversation from your phone, at 2pm, call this number: (724) 444-7444 and use this call ID: 20339. You’ll then be able to listen to the entire conversation from your phone (or more likely speaker phone!)
  • To listen to the conversation AND join the chat room, head over to the 4realz Roundtable TalkShoe page a few minutes before 2pm. As soon as you’re logged in, you’ll be able to start chatting with everyone else who’s logged into the call. You’ll also be prompted to stream the call on that page. While it’s not necessarily, I recommend that you sign up for a free TalkShoe account because it will let the rest of us identify you easier within the chat room!
  • To talk part in the call AND join the chat room, a few minutes before 2pm, call this number: (724) 444-7444 and use this call ID: 20339. Then join the chat at the 4realz Roundtable TalkShoe page to let me know you’re on the call. I’m not going to let EVERYONE who’s interested be on the call at all times (the quality deteriorates quickly with too many people), but I will unmute people as they let me know (through the chat room!) that they have an interesting question to ask and/or some insight they’d like to share.

Hopefully, you can see that taking part is really not that complicated… For most folks, listening to the conversations while taking part in the chat room is the best option! ¬† Because the 4realz Roundtables attract some great people within the industry, I think you’ll find we’re going to have a great conversation where we’ll be able to share some great insights!

So far, I know that Ricardo Bueno will join me on the call, and I’m pretty sure¬†Loren Nason is going to join to talk about some of the ways he’s been adding interesting apps to business pages. ¬† In addition, I’ll be updating this post to add a few more people as we get closer to the call. If you’re doing some interesting things with Facebook Pages and interested in sitting at the roundable, let me know in the comments!

By the way, if you’re new to the concept of the 4realz Roundtables, check out some of the conversations we had last year where I was able to bring together some really great people talking about all kinds of interesting real estate conversations. If my consulting work hadn’t ramped up in such a major way, I’d probably still be doing these conversations on a weekly basis because they were so much fun (plus, I learned a bunch each week!) Some of the topics we took on last summer were:

4Realz Roundtable: Getting Value out of Social Networks

Today (Thursday) at 4pm PST, I’m going to hosting another podcast and you’re invited to participate live! Today’s topic? Getting Value out of Social Networks

Here are some of the issues, we’re likely to explore:

  • With some of the new social networks for real estate launching recently (like MyDealBook & RealSeekr), how are they trying to differentiate themselves? And what chance do they have for adoption?
  • What should real estate professionals look for in a social network?
  • What are some keys to success for social networks trying to reach into the agent community?
  • What does it take to do well in micro-blogging environments like Twitter and Plunk?

I’m not sure how many of these issues we’re likely to cover and I honestly don’t mind if we get inspired to go way off topic!

Assuming you haven’t been officially seated at the roundtable, there are two ways for you to participate in today’s conversation.

  1. Call in. Register with TalkShoe (it’s free) and call into the conversation. (More info is on this 4realz Roundtable page). Then when you feel inspired to ask a question or leave a comment, let us know in the chat room and I’ll open up the floor to you.
  2. Chat. You can simply log into the conversation (Again, more info is on this 4realz Roundtable page), and use the chat feature to ask a question.

I’m really getting excited about this and hope you’ll tune into the live show.

UPDATE!!!

We’ve got a great lineup this week. As I mentioned in an earlier post, there’s a number of people who will always be invited for a seat at the roundtable… So far, some of the regulars who will be joining us today include:

Plus, in order to give an on-the-ground perspective, I’m extremely thankful that both of these guys will be joining us today:

This should be a blast, so please join in the conversation live at 4pm PST (7PM EST).
